Hi, it seems whenever you want to invest in pies, it needs to be done via your primary currency account. Why can’t this be done using other currencies to avoid exchange fees?
Agreed. This would be a big improvement.
It dampens the use case for pies in the meantime.
Welcome to the Community, and thanks for the feedback, @SirDMG
We’re yet to introduce multi-currency support for Pies, but I’ll let you know once the feature gets linked to the Pies.
In the meantime, a workaround would be to purchase shares in a preferred currency and then import them to a Pie, as well as export them at a later stage to sell them in the currency you’d like.
Is there any update, it would be really useful if it was implemented.
There aren’t any updates at the moment. When adding or taking out funds from your pies, you have to use your primary currency balance, and currency conversions are charged at our standard FX fee of 0.15%. This includes any dividend reinvestments, which will again be processed in your primary currency.
Any updates on this? It would be a great feature for everyone to avoid constant losses to fees. Thanks in advance!
Selecting a default currency for a Pie is still part of our plans. However, we currently don’t have an update on when this feature will be introduced.
Agreed. It has effectively made pies redundant for me in my GIA, which is a shame because it is a great feature.
I have pies with mixed currencies so I would rather like the ability to just use the balance in each security’s currency to prevent fx fee instead of having one currency for the whole pie.
Hi,
Using autoinvest in a Pie will only bring money available from my preferred currency? What if I invest in ETF in EUR within a Pie and have both EUR and USD available amount in my balance but the EUR amount is below the autoinvest amount set, will it also take the difference from the USD amount and convert it into EUR to be invested within the Pie? Or it will only use the EUR amount and invest less?
To clarify: EUR is my preferred currency
Could we get pie dividends held as cash in the currency they were distributed in if they can’t be reinvested right that moment due to minimum order size? Because there’s no reason to convert them to primary account currency and then back again for reinvestment, that just makes an unnecessary 2 way trip between currencies
i would prefer all dividends and distributions held in the currency they are paid, so there is no need to be concerned about currency fluctuations, which if the price moves the wrong way can seriously eat into your returns.
