Moving Pies to the next level: As our portfolios grow, our tool requirements evolve

Hi everyone and T212 team,

I’ve been using Trading 212 for years and I’m a big fan of the platform. The clean UI, the simplicity, low costs and the overall user experience are fantastic. It has made investing accessible to so many people, and I really appreciate the hard work the team puts into the app.

When many of us started here years ago, we had smaller accounts and only needed the basics—just a simple way to buy and hold stocks. At that stage, you don’t look at the bigger picture. However, as time passes and we successfully accumulate significant wealth on your platform, the game completely changes.

With a mature, larger portfolio, our relationship with the app evolves. We are no longer just clicking “buy”; we are managing long-term wealth. At this level of investing, advanced features are no longer just a luxury we “want”—they become tools we absolutely need to manage our assets efficiently and without errors.

To keep growing with you, experienced investors urgently need the core Pies and Autoinvest features to move to the next level:

  1. Nested Pies (Pies within Pies): As portfolios expand to dozens of positions, this is a necessity for proper asset allocation and keeping things organized without cluttering a single list.

  2. Self-Balancing Dividend Reinvestment: Having an option to automatically direct accumulated dividends into under-allocated or dipping stocks within the Pie (rather than blindly buying based on target weights) is essential for portfolio optimization.

  3. Accurate Cash Reinvestment Stats: When we manually reinvest dividends from our free cash balance back into a Pie, the system shouldn’t distort the historical performance charts by treating it as a brand-new external deposit.

From a business perspective, delivering these core tools is a win-win. New features draw beginners in, but perfecting the core investing tools is what inspires mature clients with substantial capital to keep their wealth here for decades. If the platform doesn’t evolve alongside its growing investors, it naturally forces them to look elsewhere for more advanced tools, which would be a pity.

I wanted to share this openly and constructively because I care about the future of Trading 212. I believe that addressing these highly requested Pie features would make the platform the undisputed best choice for long-term investors in Europe.

Unfortunately, the AutoInvest feature in its current form is of no use to me, as I add new funds to my Pies using the “Self-balancing” option. It simply makes no sense for the calculation regarding fund allocation to take place at a different — in my case, earlier — time than the actual purchase itself. In the interim, market prices may well have shifted again, meaning that the stocks being invested in are no longer the ones that are actually underweight …!! This problem could be circumvented if we were also able to specify the exact time of day for AutoInvest to execute. However, since this remains impossible even after so many years, I am unfortunately forced to continue investing manually.
