I have a position with a non-integer number of shares. I want to buy more and “round up” my position to be an integer number. However, it seems that I cannot place fractional orders, even though the position is already fractional.
If I recall, this position was created via distribution within a pie, which is why the quantity is fractional. So the functionality is there to buy fractional shares, but it cannot be done manually for some reason.
What can I do?
I suggest exporting the integral number of shares leaving the fractional part in the pie. Then import the extracted shares into another pie. Finally, export 100% of what’s remaining in the original pie (the fraction) and sell it from the main portfolio.
You may have to create one or more temporary pies to do this. Please let us all know if it works.
Very clever. This inspired me try it and I realised there’s a simpler solution.
Simply export the excess fractional amount, leaving the integer amount in the pie. Then sell the fractional amount that is now unassociated with the pie.
It’s not ideal as I want to be adding to the position - not selling - but it will do.

Unfortunately, the only way to resolve this is by exporting the shares (like you did). Then, you can sell the fractional shares and leave only the whole share(s) in the Pie. I agree that this is not ideal, and I’ll share it with the team so we can explore improvements.
Thanks Veselin. Having some kind of “round up” button would be great, but simply removing the zero-decimal-place restriction on buy orders would suffice.
