Hi all I have 3 shares in realty income and they have paid their dividends to me today, can someone help explain this pls?
no problem.
your dividends are paid on how many shares you held on the ex-dividend date, which according to the payment, was less than 1 whole share.
the difference between the fractional you would expect to get and what you actually got is the result of a 15% (or 30%) withholding tax first taken from the payment before it’s paid to you and then multiplied by the currency exchange rate to turn the USD into GBP to match your account funds.
Thanks for your reply
I have held 4 shares well before the ex dividend date just over a month, sold one share yesterday.
This is one investment I don’t really touch just don’t understand why it states I had 1 share when I had 3 or 4 for a month🧐
I think it’s fair to say I will be taking the money out of this stock now seems a little pointless…
Ex dividend date was 30.5 , meaning you had less then 1 share on 29.5-30.5 , as 29.5 was the last day to buy to get dividend paid on 15.6.
If true what you claim, you will have history orders and raise query to @Team212…
