Some newbie questions about pies

Hi all, first post here. I’ve recently started an ISA with T212. I’m not new to investing, but things are a bit different one here compared to other brokers I’ve used.

Firstly, are you able to alter and/or copy the asset manager pies (meaning the Vanguard/Blackrock/etc. pre-defined pies)? In other words if I want to base a pie on one of them but tweak some of the holdings, can I? Or is the best way to do this just to manually create a custom pie based on whatever one I’m interested in, and then just set it as I want it?

Another probably easy question is, is it possible to create custom pies and not invest in them immediately, but keep them for future use? If I create one, and don’t invest in it immediately, will it stay in my list so I can use them when I’m ready?

EDIT Is it possible to set decimal point percentages in pies, or do they need to be rounded to the nearest percent?

Thank you.

Hi @4721Archer welcome to the community. You can copy the ready made pies and if the underlying holdings or their percentages change your pie would also change. Once you have copied a pie you have to “unlink” the pie to the model pie to be able to adjust the percentages.

You don’t have to invest into a pie straight away but after a certain time period the pie is deleted of you don’t. I can’t remember off the top of my head what the time period is but it more than a few weeks I seem to remember.

Finally, you can have decimal point percentages in the pie. The slider will only show whole percentages but you can manually type a decimal percentage by clicking the number itself.

Thanks for the detailed answers. Have a good one over the festive period!

One more thing. Each holding has a percentage, the sum of which across all holdings is 100, of course. When/if you rebalance a pie which has become unbalanced due to growth/shrinkage, shares will be sold from some holdings and bought for other holdings, all automatically. This will include, for example, any shares you may have manually added by importing additional purchases from the main portfolio. This may or may not be what you want.
