But what would you miss out? What have you gained?
Unless sold , you only have virtual gains. If still invested, you have 0 profits.

If youāve never seen a Tesla but youāve seen a Chinese car you must like playing with matchbox
Amazon is better buy at current valuation, then Tsla, so you havenāt missed anything even now, AMZN offers lot of upside in future.
That is Iām afraid ridiculous, your number of shares unless reinvested will stay the same, the value of the shares has increased. Unless your suggesting Tesla will likely be worth $300 a share or less in 10 years how have you not made anything?
Why is elon musk the 2nd richest man if he hasnāt realised his gains yet by selling?
Iām equal with tesla and amazon stock but thatās not the point, tesla has risen beyond comprehension as amazon once did.
Iād say the real risk comes from if difficulties arise.
What if Tesla suddenly got found out to be like the Theranos drug company and all the figures were a scam.
The shares would fall faster than ever.
Bigger names have fallen too to similar circumstances - Enron for one.
Check any historical crash. AMZN or MSFT or any tech name. Check how much they can plunge in valueā¦
Iām not suggesting they canāt collapse Iām saying at the moment there is no information available that can help determine its future, its all guess work and you know it
Well when I see PE 5000+ I donāt need to look further. Really, that is all the guess work I need.
Of course and I spent all of last year agreeing with you but then it kept on going up, regardless of the pe what else is giving it this lift that can actually be explained in the figures?
Iād argue it was more a case for āpeople had no better place to put their cashā.
Tons of new investors ran on in this year, myself included.
Supply and demand at that stage, so no wonder it went up.
It goes up specially for this reason as @adm points. Many millennial investors flocking. Not saying that it is bad.
Just donāt kid yourself in thinking the rise is about fundamentals. Because 5000 PE for 30% growth a year is not realistic. AMZN grows at 30% rate and has 163 PE historical average.
Exactly so no factual figures/graphs to match to the current price so all guess work then as I have said? My point was purely that everytime someone makes a comment on Tesla someone wants to turn it into a maths lesson and Iām afraid right now its just not relevant. If people want to buy or sell based on what they see and tell other why they see it then let them.
Suppose so really.
Iām of the mindset that itās all a gamble really. Even if you have drilled a companies financials, nothing says that they havnāt been faked anyway lol.
Vivaaaa Las Vegassss
Exactly, Amazon has proven itself over time. I would buy Amazon anytime over Tesla.
Indeed, its hard to make a solid case for most of the up and coming stocks but if you donāt try you will never know. I donāt want to look back in 5 years and think shame that I didnāt invest in Tesla as it had no decent figures. If it does all that Musk says it will do and more it could be worth trillions of dollars in just 5 years. I canāt see that if this happens people will stop buying shares
Why not buy both? Amazon staying on top whilst others are joining the party is also a risk.
Alibaba for instance
What I understand from this, is because they are now in the S&P 500, index funds must buy Tesla, to have it in their fund. For example, if there is a company like BlackRock, which has an ETF of the S&P 500, they have to buy also those shares, so that they are part of that fund. It means that this stock is probably going over $600 soon, up to $800 (or higher) ā¦ Here is some more information: https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/tesla-stock-price-sp500-inclusion-impact-fund-buying-rally-goldman-2020-11-1029825614
I understand the news side of it but that still doesnāt explain it in a way that @Vedran would be happy with, why the share price is so high based on the āfundamentalsā of the company.
Iām happy with Tesla right now but I didnāt pay $550 for it, Iām just saying it canāt be explained so until you get pins and needles donāt move on it.
Also this news hit in the 400 dollar price point
Why do you keep talking about stock price. It is irrelevant, one day it is X other Y.
They always revert to mean at one point.
What matters is growth, which definitely does not support valuation.
There are plenty of companies, established once that grow in similar clips, donāt have such high premium.
Which technically means you are paying more for less exposure to fundamentals growth, then buy picking more reasonable valued business.
Only stock I see mentioned price is TSLA, because it just show how fundamentals are irrelevant to majority of invested in TSLA.
