šŸ’³ Introducing the 212 Card

So what is the latest with the card then? No FX fee, and cashback which is reducing from 1.5% to 0.5% soon.

Is it easy to set up on Google pay? Is there still a fee for a physical card? Is there still trouble with it being recognised as a commercial card?

Edit: that all sounds negative, didn’t mean to. The card itself sounds fantastic, just trying to work out how it works.

Yes, all you need to do is follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Cards menu.
  2. Select the card you wish to add to Google Pay.
  3. Press Add to GPay.

4. Follow the steps in your GPay to add the card.

 There is a one-time fee for issuing a physical card. It is taken from your account’s free funds and you can check the exact cost for your region before ordering the card.

 That has been fixed.

I have the same problem as ATMs are not accepting my card in Morocco. Very disappointed as the main reason I got the card is to withdraw when travelling. @KrisG could you please help with this?

The 212 Card can only be used with contactless ATM machines. You won’t be able to withdraw funds by inserting your card into the ATM due to the lack of magnetic stripe.

I’ve found the same sadly with Starling, can’t use it in the Casino.

Need to keep an account with an older
Bricks and mortar branch :man_shrugging::melting_face:

What’s the reason why 212 cards don’t have a magnetic stripe?

It was already explained in an earlier post by KrisG, see here:

Is the T212 card available in Switzerland? I did not find an option to order one.

The card is not available in Switzerland for the time being. We’ll notify the community if that changes in the future

There are newer cash machines which do not require magnetic stripe, but they are not very common or are expensive to use . Unfortunately, t212 card is mostly useless for using ATMs

I get it that this card is mainly for purchase, so for now it’s impossible to deposit cold hard cash straight to trading212 account via any ATM using that 212 card due to no banking license, but are there any plans for the future to implement such feature?

This isn’t in our plans right now, but we’ll let you know if we decide to explore it later.

Will The Other Region User Get The Card ? even a virtual card only ?

At this point, there aren’t any updates to share about offering the card to regions outside Europe. If there’s any news, though, we’ll share them in the thread :ok_hand:

I tried to pay for posting a package at the Post Office earlier but the 212 card was declined. It seems strange the the Post Office is restricted by Trading 212.

We covered that earlier in the thread.

good morning Bogi,
is there an ā€˜official’ list of accepted mechants activities ?
In my case, I’m wondering if we can use the card to :

  • book a flight via an airlines website ?
  • book an hotel via their website ?
    Thank you in advance !

At this point, we have only a list of excluded merchants.

To your questions - you should be able to book both flight tickets & hotel stays using the card.

great, thank you for your fast reply!

Are there any plans or rumblings to offer a boosted cashback rate for new customers? Looking at getting the card. I opened a Cash ISA just before a new customer offer with a better rate launched, so I’m trying to avoid a similar scenario!
