New Web App (Beta)

Hi @heathrow, scrollbars appear for a while when you scroll with your trackpad/mousewheel. If these are not available to you, you can hover the rightmost part of any scrollable component and the scrollbar should appear, allowing you to drag it.

Thanks. That’s really not intuitive! Can you please make them visible all the time? Or provide some visual clue?

A really annoying thing:

You have reached the maximum number (50) of permitted tabs.

I click on things in Top Losers/Top Winners a lot, so there’s a lot of tabs I don’t need to look at anymore. If there needs to be a limit, it would be good to autoclose the oldest tabs, or have some timeout for tabs that you look at once, then never again.

I find this all a bit saddening, because here we are with T212 working literally round the clock to release an app – and nobody is happy with it. Please consider keeping the legacy app available to customers, it’s such a shame this all went so sideways when T212 are trying their best to improve the customer experience. People are legitimately unhappy because the app does not function properly – A re-assessment of this whole thing is required…

Having run major software projects myself, one of the key things that can save you ā€œworking round the clockā€ after release of the software to fix it is good design and time spent in design. Also testing can save a lot of pain and time

I would agree with this. I’m a web/software dev and the new apps looks like an awful lot of hard work has gone into it. Getting all the tweaks done (e.g. scroll indicator) needs to happen but the old app provides a good fallback.

Hey @heathrow, thank you for your feedback.

Here’s a bit of an insight on our thought process here:

Our scrollbar works the same as in macOS Safari by default. Except, in Safari, it doesn’t even appear on hover, only while scrolling. So that was a little something we added ourselves.

We do not want permanently visible scrollbars - it’s way too heavy visually and almost nobody does this nowadays. On the other hand, visualising them when hovering over the entire scrollable area, instead of just the rightmost part, can be distracting.

I was not aware

and I can’t decide which one is worse, the fact that it’s bad or the fact that they can’t see it.

Major interface changes always got a strong negative reaction by communities. facebook/instagram/youtube etc. all ā€œbeen thereā€.

Perhaps they are thinking this is one those backlashes and their design is actually good.

Here is a ā€œfull screenedā€ trading212 screenshot, and in the left and right side some browsers open in ā€œincognitoā€ mode (so no they are not my preference)

In that same height of 1440px trading 212 is able to fit a whopping 8 transactions.

I’m not joking, honestly when I visit this disproportionality large page, it makes me dizzy and nauseous.

edit:
here is another screenshot from another UK company. not saying they are good or best, but just for comparisons sake. In fact they are dinosaurs in the industry. Also for the sake of fairness screenshotting it on full screen as well.

Hey @SCFC. Thank you for the kind words.

We appreciate and read through every single post in this thread, whether positive or negative. Feedback is what we’re looking for, after all, so, in some sense, we find more value in the ā€œnegativeā€ comments!

The vast majority of our web users are currently on the new app, with only a small portion sticking to the old one.

We value each customer and are doing our best to go through all feedback and make changes where appropriate.

However, it’s not feasible for us to support two web apps with vastly different architectures and software stacks for too long. This just means that some of this feedback will be addressed after the 15th when we sunset our legacy web app.

This does not necessarily mean anything, since ā€œold appā€ have an expiry date. And you did automatically switch people to ā€œnew appā€ that’s how I noticed it.

Something similar to what you’re suggesting is already in our pipeline. It won’t be ready for the 15th, though.

Hey @1anrs, is this what you’re referring to?

If so, we’ll be bringing this section back to the right column in Advanced View in the coming weeks.

In the advanced view please can you consider moving the social section down and having core info at the top along with the current price and buy/sell buttons. At the top I’d really like to see the basic core info - current price, change today, my total holding, my % profit/loss and possibly avg price. This should be highly condensed core info. I’d also like a button at the top to set an alert rather than buried way down the panel.

Can you also consider making all of the sections (ie ā€œYour Investmentā€, Pending Orders, Price Alerts, About [company], etc. collapsible and perhaps remember this setting either for each stock or as a global state parameter

In tradingview the right panel is used for both the watchlist and an info panel on the selected company. This makes good use of screen space on high res monitors. At present the portfolio list is below the chart(s). Could you please consider making it configurable so that the portfolio can be displayed at the bottom (as it is now) or as a left column or on the right panel above the company info (ie like tradingview). This would significantly increase the screen space for the chart(s) and mean that more of the portfolio is displayed

@Wit I’ve just had a bug

In advanced view I have 11 chart tabs with 10 being charts for individual companies. The 11th tab is a split view tab.

I was looking at the split view tab and had the upper left chart selected (Company A) and clicked one of the other tabs (Company B) to view that company’s chart. Instead of switching and viewing that tab it displayed the company B chart in the upper left chart on the split view tab (replacing Company A).

I’ve left it for a couple of minutes and clicked the Company B tab and it now correctly displays the company B chart (single chart mode) and when I click the split view tab it correctly displays that (with company A chart top left). Thus it was a temporary problem and didn’t permanently modify my setup but nevertheless a little disconcerting

Vast majority??? Lets do a poll then if T212 is so confident!

A simple poll can show everyone where we are. I don’t believe for a second the vast majority prefer the new app.

Similar free space to rent in the ā€œSearch tabā€! :imp:

With missing details, such price currency.

That’s not my comment, I was quoting @Wit

I was not a fan of ā€œrounded corner intern designersā€ in the era of ā€œweb 2.0ā€ I am not a fan now. I don’t think the new design has a single redeeming quality (except may be TradingView charts but that’s not necessarily a new design feature)

Its ludicrous this is not being addressed.

(EDIT) It is being addressed.

@Wit can we have a poll?

Hi, is there a way to save a default set of indicators that show everytime I open a chart? I can’t seem to find a way to save any templates that I can load when I open up the chart for a stock.
